Ms. Gaul's third grade students at the Wilkins School recently met for the first time with their kindergarten buddies in Mrs. Faria's classroom. Third grade students had chosen a book to read to their buddies and then together they colored a fall picture. Ms. Gaul's students were great role models and Mrs. Faria's kindergarteners were super excited to make a new connection at the Wilkins!

Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, and the Wilkins School created its own Wilkins Constitution to mark the occasion. The Wilkins Constitution had three categories - "Be Safe", "Be Responsible", and "Be Respectful". Wilkins classes discussed the rules and expectations they wanted to see included and wrote them out and placed the strips of paper under the appropriate category. Students then signed the Constitution this week. It will be on display in one of the hallways at the Wilkins during the month of September. Second grade students are pictured here placing the rules/expectations on the Constitution and then taking turns signing it.

The Wilkins School Student Council, under the direction of advisor Mrs. Pearl, organized a food drive last month for the Ilse Marks Food Pantry in Stoughton. Each grade at the Wilkins was assigned a different category of food to donate, with Wilkins families contributing 350 items! Student Council members are pictured here with the donations. Great job giving back to the Stoughton community!

Students at the Wilkins School enjoyed seeing Eddie, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office comfort therapy dog! Officer Michael Monaghan, Eddie's handler and partner, brought him to the Wilkins for a visit. Wilkins first graders are pictured here.

Earlier this school year, Mrs. Faria's kindergarten class at the Wilkins School won a statewide contest from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to name a MassDOT snowplow. "Snowdrop" from the Wilkins School was one of 12 winning names in this contest for elementary and middle school classrooms across Massachusetts. MassDOT officials recently brought "Snowdrop" to the Wilkins for Mrs. Faria's class to see up close! State Senator Walter Timilty was on hand to present a citation from the State Senate as well. Mrs. Faria's class also received a $100 gift card for school supplies from the MassDOT. Congratulations to Mrs. Faria's kindergarten class at the Wilkins School!
